3-SESSION HANDS-ON INTRO TO COOKING CLASSES FOR YOUR HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE AGED KIDS

OVERVIEW: Do you want your high school & college kids to be able to fend for themselves in the kitchen, either at home or as they prepare to leave? In this 3 day mini-camp, we’ll teach them the basics so they can shop for food, make good choices, and cook basic meals for themselves with nearly a dozen go-to recipes using on-hand equipment.

SKILLS: These are some, but not all skills that we want your teens to know by the end of this camp:

• Grocery Store 101

  • Where to shop

  • How to navigate the store

• Kitchen Staples

  • Pantry & fridge staples

  • Equipment staples

• Food Safety Basics

  • How to store food

  • How to work with meat

  • How to save and eat leftovers

• How to safely use appliances

  • Oven, Stove, Microwave, Air Fryer, and other dorm-type appliances

• Knife Skills

• Cooking 101:

  • How to make pasta, rice, and other grains

  • How to cook potatoes & veggies

  • How to choose and cook meat

  • How to cook eggs in multiple ways

• Baking 101:

  • How to mix and measure

FORMAT: These classes are all hands-on. We will make several recipes as a group and enjoy our meal at the end of class. Students will take home a Basic Cooking 101 packet with recipes, and have access to ask questions once classes have ended.

COST: $190 for all 3 classes

CANCELLATION POLICY: Our classes are non-refundable because we plan our class experience based on attendance. However, participants may send someone in their place if they are unable to attend.
